National Baptist Convention, U.S.A. - NBC USA

The National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. (NBC USA) was founded in 1895 as the merger of three Black Baptist bodies—the Foreign Mission Baptist Convention, the American National Baptist Convention, and the National Baptist Education Convention—at Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta. Today it is one of the largest African American Christian denominations, with over 21,000 churches and more than 8 million members worldwide}.

NBC USA operates under a congregational polity and is affiliated with the Baptist World Alliance and Christian Churches Together. Its mission centers on preaching, teaching, healing, evangelism, education, and domestic and foreign missions. Each June, its annual Congress of Christian Education gathers tens of thousands for spiritual formation and leadership development. The denomination also includes the Sunday School Publishing Board, Foreign Mission Board, Laymen’s Movement, Women’s Auxiliary, and a Disaster Management unit.

With a rich legacy rooted in post-Reconstruction organizing and a continuing commitment to faith-based justice and community empowerment, NBC USA remains a powerful voice in Black American Christianity and global missions.
